Chrome extensions for students and teachers...what are they, what do they do, how do you use them, who would benefit from using them?
What it is:
- A Chrome extension will normally sit in your browser toolbar next to the URL box and normally allows you to do something with the web page you are currently viewing. To get these you need to learn how to install them.
Some examples:
- Ever-note extension: May send web page or part of web page to Ever-note account
-Screenshot tool: lets you take a screenshot of all or part of the current webpage you are in
What do they do:
- They make working on Google chrome wit other applications much easier than ever. They are like short cuts to some applications that can work with Google to use on the web page you are using.
How to get these extensions:
- You need to go to the Chrome web store and into the extensions section to find them.
Then can see them by filter or popularity. If you want to do a more accurate search just go to the search bar in the web store and look for it and if a jigsaw piece appears on the bottom right corner it's an extension. After that you press the "add to chrome" button. It will be added to your Google Chrome.
How do you use them:
- When you have them installed on to your Google Chrome then it depends on the extension you got, but click on it and you will get what you can do with it.
- I will show you how to use some like:
> IP-Address: press on the icon and Shows your IP address with some additional Information and adds easy copy and paste functionality. Features:
- shows country and DNS details
- copies your IP adress to clipboard automatically or with a simple click
- paste your IP via the rightclick context menu
> Categorizer: Right click the mouse on something that's not an image, canvas or the like. Then choose the "Categorizer" menu and the options are right there. Features:
- Categorizer lets you manage and categorize the websites you visit regularly and the ones you only visit on certain days of the week.
And there is Hundreds more to download and use. There are games, help tabs, dictionary's, and many other's.
Benefit:
This can help teachers and students to share web pages or parts of web pages on to other sites like blogs, also there are reminder applications that can be used for homework or work.
It can make everything faster and more efficient for every one. There are other ways to use this like mini games, Shopping, News, sports and others.

Google day 1
Goals:
- Look at colleges that will provide what I want to study (architecture or interior design).
- What is needed to get in
- Start a plan from know to college.
Topic:
- make a plan for before college, during college and after.
Majors: I want to take
-Naval architecture: naval architecture is the process or creation of boats; the difference with cars or motorcycles is that these boats are made depending on the buyer they are all different depending what it is for and how do they wanna use it (ex: a cruise would be different than a cargo ship). - - - - http://139.30.101.246/schiffbaustudium_01/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=50&Itemid=53&lang=en
- Architecture: definition: -The art or practice of designing and constructing buildings. -The style of a building with regard to a specific period, place, or culture.
Architecture has the highest quality of design there is seen. Its art as well as science and a business career
- Interior architecture: Interior architecture combines the study and practice of interior design with architecture. It explores how the interiors of buildings such as office blocks, houses, hospitals and galleries are inhabited, used and experienced. - http://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/courses/options/interior-architecture/
It's in a way an interior design of a building or place. To see how it works lets say room's, offices, bathroom and etc.
Schools that offer what i'm looking for:
UCLA
UCSC
UCSB
University of New haven
Los Andes
- From all these schools the one I mostly like is USCB University of California, Santa Barbara because it has a great campus and all the majors I would like to study. Also it has a great athletics program for students.

Phishing
What I know
- I don't know anything about the topic itself
Questions
- What is fishing?
- How does fishing work?
Useful Websites
- http://cybercellmumbai.gov.in/html/cyber-crimes/phishing.html
- http://www.csoonline.com/article/221737/phishing-the-basics
- http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/security-info/cybercrime/phishing/
What I Learned
- Phishing: the act or attempt to take or steal information from users such as usernames, passwords and credit card details; by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.
- What they do to get your info is send mails saying to update info in a website but the link on the mail is false so you put your info in these special websites.
- They can take your info of any type such as credit cards, bank account passwords and others then they will or can sell it to other people or to the black market.
- Phishing is based on real fishing because they put out bait and some will ignore others will be tempted.
- There is a technology known as sender authentication which will go into the mail sent and see if it's really sent from the website "the original" so let's say you get an e-mail from bancolombia saying you need to change your password; it will trace were the mail is sent from. this is called pharming a type of phishing.
How this topic related to my life
- This is related to my life because know a days there are alot of things that I may be using the internet for. So I could acidentaly give my information to a false site that will use this against me.
This can turn in very serious consequences for both parties.
Questions I still have
.- Is the illegal act rear or very frequent? Why?
- I don't know anything about the topic itself

design project day 5
Like
- The idea
- that it was fun and not that challenging
Didn't like
- to easy
- it was made out of boxes
- and that some parts were a little tilted so it made it easier
What was the biggest problem you encountered? How did you solve it?
- The biggest problem we had was that are idea was complicated are plan was hard, so we needed more time to create are idea. We solved by making something more simple and easier to work with.
When did you get your biggest "AH HA" idea? What was it?
- At the beginning when we drew the sketch out. This was because we had every little detail drawn out so that made the idea of the game great and cool. We thought about how it was going to work the prizes everything was thought or said that moment.
Who in your group resisted new ideas the most and why?
- I did because I had a plan in mind and that I would stick to it. Because of all the thought we put into the design I thought it would work out; but at the end I went with the new idea so that there was enough time to finish the project.
What doubts did YOU have about the project and how did you overcome those doubts?
- I had doubts about how it would work, how the whole mechanism would work out. How the ball would come back to the player. I overcame those doubts by doing them carefully and putting lots of thought to it and with help of my partners.
Who in your group played "devil's advocate" (a person who questions everything, even good ideas) and how did that help the process?
- Ana Maria Lara because we always said something and she would question the idea, she thought it wouldn't work out because she didn't understand. It didn't help because most of the time we were explaining to her what was happening.
What did you learn about yourself, teamwork, and the design process?
- I learned that not always it can finish as you expected. I learned that teamwork is the best way to progress your way to a better product of any kind, because all ideas are explained and will be thought about everyone can help. The design was easy but to create it was the hard part all the ideas and problems we had were because not much communication happened.

Design project-day 3
Choose
- We thought are game was for 8-10 year olds so we wanted to make this game challenging for the kids so that they wouldn't get bored. The game had to be fun, fast, challenging, and had to have prices. Yes they do match are game because we used that as a guide. It wasn't stable enough to hold everything up, the layers weren't connected well. By having a more accurate sketch that helps us guide in the building of are game.
Build Plan:
Get materials
- Get wood (willy) and do the sketch mathias sends on it
- Get springs for base (mathias)
- silicon gun (ana)
- tubes (mathias)
- carb board box (ana)
- Connect and talk about what we will do on the wood a box
- Start with the base
- Create the labyrinth
- Add a way for the marble to go back so the person gets it again if the ball falls
- Put the springs on add everything on "details"
- Try it and if fails repair

My drawing-
-weakness: to complicated to make
-strength: it shows the inside and the outside of the labyrinth
Mathias' drawing-
-weakness: shows only one part of the labyrinth
-strength- its easy to make, and is a challenge for the player
Ana Maria's drawing
-weakness: to difficult to play
-strength- very detailed
What needs to be added
-the outside part how the finish product will look like
Details that will be added
-barriers
What this game needs to improve is the difficulty or age group and how it works

-This game will be made for Middle and Elementary students.
-This games difficulty will be medium
-The game has to be fun, competitive, challenging, creative and able to win cool prices

this video shows a pinball machine made out of lego it has all the parts of a normal pinball machine
-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cEWELoxEsY
this is a labyrinth which you use by to axis, you have to put in a marble and guided threw the maze avoiding the falls or pits. You can take the maze out to put in a different difficulty
We will do a labyrinth which will have two floors with axis handles to move it to avoid the wholes, when getting to the end of the first floor then you go in the whole and it takes the marble to the second floor
We could also do to labyrinths beside each other so that it's a race against some one else.
